How I botched a perfectly good Birthday Present

Yep the title says it all. Unfortunately it had to be my mom's birthday. *sigh* Her birthday was on a Sunday this year, and I decided that for her birthday I would sing in church. And It was to be a surprise. I was able to practice and keep that a secret and get the date I wanted. Then like 5 days before......(guess what?) ...... I GOT SICK!!! Man I was NOT HAPPY. Part of that illness was a cough. It was mainly the cough....And you know how long coughs go on. It's endless. ENDLESS I TELL YOU!

Anyway, so Saturday morning comes and I pretty much better. I can sing . Not any more coughing.....yeah. I was excited. Then I got the cough back Sat night. Part of that is because
a) i could have drunk more water then the large amount I already was, and done a couple more things to ensure not getting sick again.
b)I live in a large family.

Oh it was distressing. I had to call up my pianist and the Music Coordinator and church and let them know I might not show my face. Then I hoped desperately (with a sinking feeling inside) that I would get better.

Alas, it was not to be so! For when I woke up the next morning, not only was the cough still there but my head ached. I was devastated, but not ready to let on why I could not go. I spent most of the morning in bed, waiting for mom to come home.

When they did come home dad came in. I had told him about the present. He said my name was on the program for the meeting and that mom had been like "What? Why is she on there." But she figured it out. Then later mom came in and you know what happens next...

And that is the story of how I botched the awesome birthday gift that I was really excited to do, since I had wanted to sing in church for a while. I'm gonna be singing in April. And maybe, just maybe I'll post of video of me singing. (Of course we don't take vid in church, but I'll do it outside of church.

Okay, so well u know we are having another sibling come July right? Well mom got the ultrasound and, it's another girl! No surprise there. Some sibs of mine were sure it'd be a boy, but nope.

So here I go, once again! Another little sister. Tons of people ask me if I want another one, and well all I have to say is, "What's one more?"

That's the news! Here we go again!

Moovies (recent favorites)

So, I know this is really weird, but I don't have that much to post about so I am going to share some of the recent movies that I've seen.

Secretariat
This is a great movie, that I saw like two days ago. For those of you who haven't seen this it's about the famous race horse Secretariat, who not only won all the Triple Crown races, but set the record for the fastest time in the Kentucky Derby and Belmont Stakes (fist and third races of the Triple Crown.). This movie is based on him as well as his owner Penny Chenrey who breed and raised him. This movie is very fun to watch. The races are amazing
unfortunatly not the original) and the story equally fascinating. I recommend this movie as a fun family film (well younger kids might get bored).

The Voyage of the Dawn Treader
Okay this movie is another great movie to add to your collection(when it comes out on DVD of course). It is full of action, thrill, and very fun! It follows the book fairly well. There were a couple twists, but what movie that is based of a book doesn't have one? (I challenge you to name one!) Narnia is literaly brought to life is this fun movie. I pre-warn those who have not yet seen this that there is a scene at the end (the big battle) where they do drag out a battle with a pretty disgusting sea serpent/centipede. Besides that, the violence level is pretty small, excluding a few things that are pretty minor. Overall, I loved this movie. Another great addition and honor to C.S.Lewis and his amazing series!

Tangled
Okay, I LOVED THIS MOVIE!!!!! Oh seriously, it was SO EPIC!! (Be forewarned I am known to overuse that word) I saw this with my BFFS in the theater. It was epicly funny, adventurous, cute and just fun to watch. The action was intriguing and thrilling, and the comedy lightened up the movie. There were some songs that were pretty fun. This movie now has first place in my list of favorite Disney Animations. It is in my opinion the best Princess story Disney Remake ever. The characters were so much fun. Mandy Moore (Rapunzel) and Zachary Levi(Flynn) did an amazing job. This movie is all together are very fun movie for the whole family to enjoy. IT's JUST PLAIN EPIC!!!!!

Halloween Costume

So this is the (Very Late, SORRY!)story of my Halloween Costume(above). So initially we had planned on doing a group theme. A baseball team. We all had matching plain baseball type shirts so we were just going to use electrical tape to put on names, number etc...... Yeah. Then on Tuesday we received notice that it was off. So I had like 3 days to pick a costume(a co-op party on Friday). I finally decided I would make a costume and be Robin Hood's Granddaughter (I'm writing a story, and that's the main character.) We have(or had) some green fabric that I could turn into a tunic type thing. So I set off to make my costume, I had no pattern. Just my skill, measuring tape, scissors, ( sewing supplies). And yeah.

PROCESS

1) Iron Fabric

2)Mark you measurements on fabric.

3)Sketch a rough pattern for tunic. ( add a few extra inches for space)
This took me forever. Like about an hour of redoing and so forth..

4) Pin fabrics together(tightly). Use props to hold in place for cutting - Laundry basket, chair, etc..

5)Cut out the tunic pattern

6) Pin both pieces together

7) Sew & Hem

8) Get extra accessories. This simple tunic can be used for tons of costumes with the right props.

9) Extra(for Robin Hood/forest costume, or if u want it) - Make a zig-zag hem. (Make a big hem then cut out ziz-zags(hope that's understandable))

So that's how I made my costume. If you know how to sew it shouldn't be hard to make. What do you think? Please comment!
