Ah...Christmas (mumbo-jumbo thoughts)

Well it's almost the new year, but first comes Christmas. Boy am I not ready. WHAT HAPPENED TO 2011! We're just 2 weeks away from 2012!

This whole fall has been crazy so I've been shirking my blog. Which I miss. I miss blogging. I dream all the time about the cool blogs I could do. Most of them are book related since I follow so many author and book blogs. :D I do have a book blog. But it would take a lot of work to shape up.
So sorry for shirking. My goal for 2012 is to post at least every week.

But back to Christmas.

What do you love about the Holiday? For me it's lots of smells, sights and sounds. Not to mention the family traditions and fun that comes with celebrating the birth of Christ.

A short update and them I'm off to hit the hay. :D

With our Homeschool Group (Scholars of Light/SOL) we have a choir. This is for the older kids who can sit through long practices and learn longer and harder songs. (Jamie is the youngest member @ 8yr.) It's been a lot of fun to learn awesome songs.

This season we thought it would be fun to have some of us piano playing youth accompany the choir on the things we learned. Of course I jumped at the opportunity. We've already had once performance and that went great. I think mom will be videotaping the performance tomorrow so maybe I'll get access to that.

I'm playing Christmas Bell Carol (also known as Carol of the Bells) and a Natalie Sleeth song (we do a lot of her) called Were You There. It's a lot of fun.

Well I'm tired and I have a book waiting. What's better, Books, Beds or Both?

I'll go with Both.

Till next time. Feliz Navidad!

Cello Wars

Some of you may know that I really like Jon Schmidt and his music. Well his accompaniest Cello guy, Steven Sharp Nelson is FAB on the cello. He's done a bunch of multiple cello piece arrangements and done music videos for them. He uses special kinds of cellos and oh wow it's so good. Well his latest will delight many. It's called Cello Wars, and as the name says, it's a Star Wars Parody. Enjoy!

Sizzling Newbie

http://www2.richardpaulevans.com/hello-world

I'm currently reading a book called "Micheal Vey: the Prisoner of Cell 25." the interesting thing is that the author is Richard Paul Evans. You may have heard of some of his novels such as The Christmas Box, The Christmas List. The Walk, or another of his touching life stories. Well this is her first Sci-Fi that will join the shelves with his heart-breaking stories. He's in the same genre as Nicholas Sparks.

I'm personally liking Micheal Vey very much. Normally I'm not a sci-fi person, but this is quite good. I'm not half-way through it yet, but I can tell that I will really enjoy it. I would definitely recommend it to teenagers and even adults would probably enjoy it.

So look for Micheal Vey, it's a fresh, sizzling adventure.

An author's thoughts on Nanowrimo

3 days till Nanowrimo. My plot is catching up with me. I'm still not fully planned. This will defiantly be an adventure.

Today I read an interesting post by an author. It's by J. Scott Savage. I read one of his books and thought it was pretty good. when that happens, and if I like the author, I will follow their blog. In this case Savage happens to be LDS, so I also like to follow him, due to his great writing comments and clean background.

Back to my original point in posting this. His most recent post was called "The Good, the Bad & the Ugly of Nanowrimo". Starting Tuesday I'm gonna brave Nano and write 50K words in November. So naturally as the National Novel Writing Month is coming to a start many people are writing about it.

Savage talked about the reasons why it could be good and why Nano is also not the best.
His main point is taking different kinds of people and authors and putting them in the Nano position. Some people can't force a novel (Or 50 K) in a month. Some can. Some can just sit and write 2,000 words per day for a month and finish quickly. So depending on who you are, Nanowrimo can be either, very great, or very bad and ruining of your writing. Because as Savage says, "Quantity does not always equal quality". So true.

I found the post very interesting, if you are thinking about doing Nano I would suggest you read it. Or if you are even a writer.
